"Command, this is Vasquez. We've discovered something."

"Copy, Odyssey. What is it?"

"An artifact. It doesn't appear to be human."

The Luminari leader appeared beside her. "It's from the First Ones. They visited Mars long ago."

"What does it do?"

"We don't know. But we need to find out."

Elena led a team into the artifact. The interior was vast, filled with holographic displays, all showing images of Mars-past, present, and future.

"The First Ones were trying to warn us," the Builder said.

"Of what?"

The displays flickered, revealing a massive ship approaching Mars.

"The Krael. They're coming."

Elena's jaw tightened. "Then we prepare."

The colony shifted from peaceful settlement to military outpost. Weapons were built, defenses were raised.

The Krael arrived, their fleet massive, their weapons powerful.

But the settlers were ready.

The battle was fierce, but the Krael were defeated.

"Command, the threat is neutralized."

"Copy, Odyssey. Good work. Come home."

Elena looked at the artifact, at the future, at the new home.

Mars was safe.

For now.
